Greg Prato of AllMusic claimed that Renegade is Thin Lizzy's worst album, with "blatant pop leanings and a production too similar to British heavy metal bands of the early '80s", blaming Snowy White's incompatibility with the group, Lynott's "flat vocals" and the band's drug problems. Prato named "The Pressure Will Blow", "Leave This Town" and "Hollywood (Down on Your Luck)" as the album.

It is widely agreed among Thin Lizzy fans (and by the band themselves) that their release, Renegade, was their sthesanavmirelo.cielimnahoubozycimortlogtiodapho.co raw, rocking Lizzy of the past (Jailbreak, Black Rose, etc.) is nowhere to be found here; in its place is a keyboard-heavy rock band with blatant pop leanings and a production too similar to British heavy metal bands of the early '80s.

This is the great Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy near the end. This is hard to say about one of your favorite bands but it is what is. Renegade would be a 2-star album if not for the lead track, "Angel of Death", an exciting and dramatic epic, that is one of their best 10 songs period and the only Thin Lizzy song where Darren Wharton's keyboards really add to the proceedings/5().

After the release of Renegade, Thin Lizzy's popularity dwindled considerably, but this album did fare well among other releases by Judas Priest and the Scorpions. It features "Angel of Death," "Hollywood," and the popular title sthesanavmirelo.cielimnahoubozycimortlogtiodapho.co: $
